Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop this course, HIST258, due to personal mental health complications including episodes of intense anxiety that have prohibited me from succeeding within this course, causing me to fail a previous test and compromise my ability to complete another essay, together worth a total of 50. These events have affected my mark so significantly I feel as though I have no choice but to drop the course, as there is no way to save my overall grade. To prevent this failure, I tried to submit a doctor's note to the faculty of arts and science accommodations, which was unfortunately rejected due to the doctor's note being from 2013, when I was first diagnosed with my anxiety disorder. To prevent this situation from reoccurring during my future studies here at Queens I have enrolled with student accessibility services and provided them with new documentation of my condition. It is very much out of my nature to resort to this step, but with the struggles I have faced this year, I have found it necessary. I am a dedicated student and plan on taking 2 courses during the summer term to help catch up and get back to where I need to be in my degree plan, thank you for taking the time to review my request.
