Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
Through seeking guidance from healthcare professionals, family and friends, I have realized that my mental health is most important and I must focus on getting well. Prioritizing school over my well-being is unhealthy. I need to drop out of my courses with Queens.
I have been dealing with depression and anxiety since the passing of my sister which has resulted in me taking time off before taking part in any university courses. I thought that I might be ready to begin my post-secondary studies but have now realized that it is far too stressful and overwhelming for me with my current mental state. My biggest issue is that I am unable to retain any of the information given to me. I cannot keep up with the readings, as I find myself having to reread the same chapter countless times in the hopes that it will stick. My constant lows make it very difficult to stay focused on schoolwork and I have found myself getting more and more behind, resulting in more nervous breakdowns and further procrastination. I have recently started a new medication and I hope to further my studies in the future when I am well.
Thank you,
Catherine Goodwin
