Petition Letter: To Whom This May Concern,
I am appealing for a late drop of the course HIST 214, which I am currently taking online. Throughout the term I have not kept up with the course due to several strains, mostly associated with the stress of my other courses as well as my ongoing depression and anxiety (diagnosed late 2017, at la salle clinic) and coping with my physical health (diabetes). At first, I was wishful in thinking I could keep with the pace of the course, but found that I was constantly overwhelmed by the readings and was not able to make deadline for the course. This wishful thinking is also why I did not drop the course before the appropriate deadline. This is in all, my own fault. I believe that in trying to take a full course load, I severely overestimated the work I could take on. Outside of school, I have a part time job and extracurriculars that try my best to keep up with, but found that my mental illness often hindered me in performing to my full extent. At this time, I wish to drop this course this semester in hopes that in the following years I¿¿d be able to retake and excel at the topics that I have much interest in for the course.
