Petition Letter: Hi Art and Science department,

I'm appealing for dropping a course, psyc236, Clinical Psychology.

The reason I want to drop this course is that it doesn't help me much in my future job. I'm planning to focus more on social psychology and developmental psychology. At the beginning of this term, I was planning to switch my major to psyc-musc medial, so the academic advisor suggested that I should choose one psyc course in this term. However, my only choice is pysc 236, because the other psyc courses were full. At that time, I thought this course would not affect my GPA too much, but after the midterm, I was surprised that my grade is that low. When the marks came out, the deadline for dropping a course has passed. I tried to get help from TAs but I still could not figure them out. I realized that although I got A on the final exam, my overall grade is still bad. At the same time, the academic advisor told me this course may affect me going to my plan in May. I was so anxious and upset because I'm going to the third year, I have to be accepted by a plan, otherwise, it will delay graduation. I'm an international student. Extending the study permit is a hard and complex process, and the delay of graduation will make my parents upset. My other courses' grades are good, so I need to pay more attention to these courses. Continuing to study for the psyc236 final exam is wasting time. I don't want to affect my academic performance because of a course which I do not need. If I drop this course, I can definitely do better on other exams.
