Petition Letter: Associate Dean,
I am requesting to drop PSYC 203 due to my current mental health circumstances. I have been struggling with depression for years now and have usually been able to cope but lately I have found it to be very difficult. I planned and attempted suicide on Saturday March 3rd and because of that I have not gone to class or done any school work during the weeks leading up to the aforementioned date, not because I am lazy but because I did not see a point. Ever since this I have been playing catch up with all of my courses and have just been unable to complete the required amount of work for this course. I know based on my first-year marks I am capable of doing well in school but my depression has inhibited me from doing so. I would love the opportunity to restart this course next year from a better outlook on life and school. My professor and I agreed that the best next step for me would be to attempt to drop this course when we met to discuss my academics. I know I¿¿m capable of exceeding academically, this year has just been abnormally difficult for me to balance. Thank you for any consideration you could take into this circumstance. Please let me know if you have any questions 647-233-9813.
Warmly,
Lauren McCaffrey
