Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I did not write my PSYC 100 exam on April 12th, 2018 because I was ill most of March. In March, I was sick first with a sinus infection and then a really bad cough. I went to the Doctor on March 12th. However, I did not get better. I was so tired that I could barely walk a block and my cough was very painful. I became so sick that I ended up going to the Kingston General Hospital on March 22nd and then again on March 24th. On March 24th, the staff at the hospital were so concerned that they put me through blood work, a chest X-Ray and an ECG. Fortunately, they did not find anything serious. However, during this period, I was so weak that I was barely able to function.

By the time I recovered (on March 28th), I was 2 weeks behind on my course work with 2 weeks to go until my final exams on April 12th, 13th and 14th.

For the PSYC 100 exam on April 12th, I knew from the Fall final exam that 2 weeks was not enough time to properly memorize the detail and the amount of information required to pass the April final exam.

Unfortunately, at that time, I was unaware that an appeal of extenuating circumstances option was available. I was also overwhelmed with getting caught up and preparing for my other exams. As a result of not having enough time to review, I did not write the PSYC 100 final exam. I know that had I not been so sick in March, I could have begun my exam preparation for PSYC 100 in early March to be more than ready to the write the final on April 12th.

It would be greatly appreciated if this course could show on my transcript as a DR instead of a F.
