Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Arts and Sciences,

I am appealing the online course CWRI 295 which I took in the winter term 2018. The reason as to why I am appealing this course and the removal from my transcript is because I was unaware of the online participation in this course that was fifty percent of my final grade. I completed all my assignments and submitted them in on time; I received marks including A, B, B, B, and a C. However there was a workshop component that I was unaware of. On the ONQ site under the grades page where it shows the marks, I received for each assignment it never indicated that I was failing to meet the course requirements. The professor of the course Carolyn Smart emailed me after the term was completed saying that I have failed the course because I missed fifty percent of the work. In her email, she stated that she sent emails out to the class about this. However, I received no emails or notifications that indicated that I was, in fact, failing throughout the entirety of the course. If I had been aware of this online workshop I would have participated. In Smart's email, she suggested to me that I appeal the course and drop it from my transcript. She said she would support on my behalf. I enjoyed this course and I hope to take it again, now that I am aware of all the requirements.
I would like to drop this course and remove from my transcript, please consider this request.
