Review of Instructor¿¿s Decision on grade in Exam/Course Grade (Econ 212 Winter 2018)

Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing this letter to request a grade revision for my final exam which I completed for the course Micro¿Economics¿Theory 1 (ECON 212) taught by Professor Art Stewart¿during the previous semester Winter 2018.

When receiving my course grade I was surprised to find that I got an F for this course which was much lower than I originally expected. I had never received an F in my academic career. I emailed Professor Stewart immediately asking him to review my mark because my midterm mark was also calculated wrong for this course and I had to go to the TA¿¿s office so they could change it so I thought there might be some mistakes.

However, Professor Stewart said I got 32 for my final exam and grade that low is unlikely to change. I have requested him politely to look at my exam again but he did not reply my email till today. It has been more then 10 days. Professor Stewart¿¿s final exams are always similar to his past exam. I studied all the past paper before the exam and I thought a 32 grade was too low to be realistic. I had to admit it was a hard course and according to the grade distribution, 21 of the class failed this course. It is a very high failing rate compares to other courses I have taken. Also, in Professor Stewart¿¿s class, he does not use any technologies such as power point or ¿¿onq¿ system. It had been hard for students in his class to follow him properly because there was no recourses or information on ¿¿onq¿ page and we had no idea about if our quiz or midterm grades were uploaded correctly. When we asked questions from the textbook, Professor Stewart said he has been teaching without a textbook for years so he does not know content from the newer-version textbook. I personally respect Professor Stewart and his own teaching method but it was a rough time for us to go through this course.

ECON 212 was a required course for my major plan, if it was my insufficient I would retake it to meet my requirement. If I could get a higher grade than the current F, it would be my important motivation to try my best to explore the ECON world.

In sum, I believe that my final exam warrants a higher grade. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have for me. Thank you for taking the time to review my request.
