Petition Letter: ACADEMIC APPEAL (OF TUITION FEES)
Dear Associate Dean (Studies), Dr. Bénard,
I am appealing the charges of Tuition Fees for the 2017 Fall/ 2018 Winter terms. I did not attend one single class of the courses below, as I believed I was not enrolled in them.
2017 Fall, PHIL 259
2017 Fall, WRIT 125
2017 Fall, SOCY 122A
2018 Winter, SOCY 122B
This is the first time I enroll in a University and the BA Global Development studies is fully online, which might have added to my misunderstanding of enrollment steps.
I took classes during summer of 2017, but did not continue my studies after that. I was unaware of having registered for classes during Fall/ Winter, and having related due payments; I did not study or take part in any classes during this period. I only became aware of past due payments when I recently received a notification in my personal email account.
I must also say that the reason why I decided not to continue my studies was related to an illness in my immediate family which triggered depression on me. This was only diagnosed early this year, and I have since treated myself in different ways, including an ongoing weekly group therapy, to which I am committed for a minimum of one year. I am glad to say I feel well now, and I intend to continue my studies this Summer.
I am hoping to enroll in the Summer 2018 term before the end of the month but am blocked on SOLUS from doing so, until this financial matter is solved.
The direct contact for my therapist is below; I am asking her to provide me a letter as soon as possible.

I am also attaching the Appeal for Tuition Fee Amendment in order to expedite this process from my end.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Leonardo Tenan
