Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing this letter to ask for special permission to drop the course PSYC100 held within the summer semester of the 2018 academic year, even though the deadline to drop the course has passed.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have been dealing with on and off psychological and physical discomfort. I have been seeing a neurologist to confirm whether it is multiple sclerosis. I dealt with this since last year and it's been going and coming back. While I was trying my best to cope with it, it has affected my academics tremendously. Specifically, I missed my midterm for this course. I was supposed to take it the week after but I was still feeling ill. Professor Norris advised that it's best that I drop the course so I can academically do well when I take it next semester.
These circumstances that were out of my control were the reasons why I missed this deadline. I wasn't planning on dropping the course, I really wanted to complete it but Professor Norris said it was best that I take care of myself first and then come back in September to do well. I've been dealing with this the past year and I realized it's best.
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for taking time to review
my request.
Sincerely,
Thipika Balakrishnan
