Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I would like to drop this class because I was not able to attend the proper amount of lectures to pass the class. I was not able to attend these classes because my mother has been in the hospital with a spinal chord injury and can't be left alone. Anytime my father goes to visit my grandmother, who is also sick in a hospital in Montreal, i have to go home to stay with my mom incase things escalate with her current condition. I only missed 4 classes but because the class is intensive and is only 6 weeks long missing 4 classes would greatly influence my mark. I have talked to my professor about the predicament and she said that dropping the class and appealing to get it taken off of my transcript was the best way to handle it.
