Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am currently a student going into my third year in the Global Development Studies program, this summer I decided to take 2 online courses to catch up on some credits, this has proved to be more challenging than I had originally anticipated. I am appealing to drop this course, SPAN 111, because the content is far more difficult that I thought beginner Spanish to be, as well as trying to balance its workload with my other class and a full time job has been extremely challenging and manage my anxiety issues (documented with student services), I honestly believe if I do go through and complete this course in its entirety, I am setting myself up to fail. My plan is to focus on my other summer course and learn from this experience. thank you very much for your consideration.
