Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

My name is Benjamin Fanjoy and I am appealing to have a late drop on my 2 summer courses. The circumstances in which I found myself failing these 2 courses are concerning my mental health. I have been previously diagnosed with depression and anxiety and have received counselling and been prescribed medication over the past 2 years, however I stopped receiving counselling and have been off of the medication for the past 6 months, believing that I had gotten over these issues. I have relapsed over the summer and this has affected my energy, motivation, and desire to succeed in my studies. I am committed to getting back on track, receiving help, and getting through the healing process again. I do regret my inability to stay on top of these courses as I was also working a lot in order to try and gain some financial independence. My hope for this appeal is to have these courses dropped so that they do not show as a failed course on my transcript, which could handicap my future endeavours. I am actively looking into the mental health resources at Queen's, and although I have no medical documentation to submit at the moment, I can submit an evaluation once I have met with a specialist. I do accept responsibility for my actions, I just hope you can empathize with my situation. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Fanjoy
