Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,

I am appealing for a late course drop for BIO102 summer session as I missed the drop date. I have a physical illness that has also caused psychological challenges creating extenuating circumstances beyond my control.
Severe head pain as a result of an injury sustained in the winter re-occurred starting the week of May 20th. The head pain made it impossible for me to perform normal daily functions or work on a computer. Darkness and little to no activity helped but the head pain returned intermitilenly until late July. Do to this injury I fell behind in my summer session class. For this reason I decided I should drop all summer session classes even if it meant falling further behind in my academic goal and cost me the payment. This decision was difficult to make as my injury had greatly impacted my winter session. I successful dropped PSY100 but my head hurting I retreated to my room . When I returned to complete the task of dropping the BIO102 Class I found I was no longer able I had missed the drop date.
The winter head trauma has been a challenge physically, psychologically and financially, which has in turn caused me stress. I was eager to get back on track and catch up academic time lost this winter but looking back I started bit to soon.
Since mid July I have followed my doctor¿¿s instructions to heal my head. I have gradually increased reading so I may be prepared to succeed academically without further interruptions.
I am available to provide any further information necessary regarding my head injury and how it impacted my daily activity. I included a letter from my Doctor, Mayer Hoffer who sees me on a regular schedule to help me heal from this injury and the stress it has caused me. In addition to the medical letter I have included communication with Solus as well as the registrar office when attempting to drop this class.
