Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Good evening. I am appealing to late drop both ENGL 200 and CWRT 295 due to an ongoing extenuating circumstance that has been hindering in relation to both my mental and physical health. On March 23rd, 2017, I was hit by a car, and am currently recovering from a traumatic brain injury. The impact that my physical illness has on my academics goes through phases of severity, and I suffered from it¿¿s effect particularly through February and March of the winter term. I was suffering from excessive fatigue, frequent migraines, dizzy spells, poor memory and severe anxiety. The combination of these symptoms kept me from having the time to complete, process or retain my readings. I have paranoia walking outside, and this occasionally kept me from attending class. Due to what I was experiencing, I simply did not have the time to complete some of my final assignments before the end of the term. I kept in consistent contact with my professors, and while they were accommodating some of the time, I do not believe they understood my circumstances, and we could not come to a solution that enable me to keep up. I was being treated by my family doctor and occupational therapist, taking on increased anxiety and sleeping medication, but this also was not enough to help me. I discussed this with an academic advisor as well as accessibility services just before the end of the winter term, and they informed me that appealing to drop these two courses was the only solution to my problem. I have provided several documents in the appeal outlining my injuries, and if these are not sufficient, I could attain more.
Thank you, and I hope that this appeal will go through to put me back on track to completing my degree,
Charlie Slaney

New Information: I have a letter from another occupational therapist that was done based on an assessment I underwent over the summer. I will also attempt to submit the other two documents that were not of the proper format to be submitted in the first place.
