Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing this appeal letter to express my desire to spend the winter semester of 2019 studying abroad at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. My name is Andrew Witham and I am currently in 3rd year at Queen¿¿s studying for my undergraduate in Applied Economics. I am in good academic standing with a 3.3 GPA and am on track with my degree required courses, having completed all the mandatory 2nd year core course for Applied Economics.
I have a strong desire to go on exchange as I applied for the Arts and Science exchange program but I did not receive any of my choices. I ended up getting a second change and got into a school in Liverpool, England. However, the rainy port-town of Liverpool is not where I desire to go. I would like to experience the exquisite culture and history of Europe and learn in a totally different environment.¿¿
I have been in contact with John Cabot University and have already been accepted there for the winter semester. My next steps are getting accepted through the ILOP process at Queen¿¿s and obtaining a study visa for Italy. Move in day is January 15 and classes start January 21. The semester ends with final examinations May 6-10. John Cabot teaches mainly in English and the school is advertised as an American school in the heart of Italy. This means there are many English courses. I checked the course listings and there are many economics courses that are offered. International Economics would be interesting to take at a school in Italy as it would give a unique perspective. Applied Economics at Queen¿¿s does not allow me to take core courses on exchange but it does accept economics electives that count towards my degree. I would be able to take several economics electives as well as some unique arts courses that I couldn¿¿t take back home at Queen¿¿s.
That being said, I hope you consider me for an international letter of permission and accept my appeal.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My academic plan is to take as many economics electives as I can while on exchange. My undergraduate major is Applied Economics and they don¿¿t allow students to take core courses while on exchange; they will not be accepted and won¿¿t count towards my major. However they allow economics electives to be taken on exchange as long as they are approved by the department. For my degree I still need to take one 200 level economics, one 300 level economics, one economics history, and two applied economics courses. With the immense selection at John Cabot I would be able to stay on track academically, and advance in my major overseas.
