Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I, Samin Babayandarjazi am writing this appeal to be able to add the multi-term course PHIL115 into my schedule. Being a Shia Itna Asheri Muslim, I participate in Muharram which is a religious holiday in which I fast from dawn to dusk for the 6 significant days, which this year ran from September 18th to September 23rd. This year the Martyrdom of the Shia leader was on the 19th of September. During the first day of my fasting I felt dehydrated, weak and tired, however, I still proceeded to continue my fasting the following day on the 19th. I didn't think that the long hours of fasting throughout the day would affect me, but in fact, it did.
Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to add this course, because the long hours of fasting in addition to the long hours of class I had that day, caused me to feel extremely disoriented the day of the deadline. I am sincerely apologetic for the inconvenience this might have caused, but I would have been punctual if not had been for my health that day. As a first-year student, I was also unaware of the ability to appeal to add a course until one of my teaching assistants informed me. Hence, the late submission of my appeal. Regarding the PHIL115 course I wish to add, I have seen on my Solus account that the course is available, it fits into my schedule perfectly and that there is space in the class. Additionally, I have friends in the class that will be able to help me catch up on any content missed. Thank you.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Like mentioned in my appeal letter, I have friends in the PHIL115 course allowing me to easily get caught up with the content. Additionally, I plan on majoring in Philosophy and think that the addition of this course would expand my academic toolkit.
