Petition Letter: Dear Appeal Committee
I am asking to receive Credit Standing in the Math 121 summer course that I took as a visiting student this summer from Bishops University.
The extenuating circumstances are that I was not provided my accomodations on the midterm exam. I had completed the paperwork as requested and as I had done in the past and was expecting accommodations. I have had accommodations all through high school and through my university career. However when I sat down to write the exam the proctor informed me there were no arrangements for accomodations. It was an evening exam so there was no one to call and get this situation rectified.
This was a huge shock and since I suffer from test anxiety due to a severe learning disability and ADHD this information greatly increased my anxiety level to the point where is was difficult to focus or function. I knew that I had to rush through everything to get finished and I did not have time to go back and check for errors and I did not get finished. The shock of the situation definitely affected the results of the exam as well not having the extra accommodated time to complete the exam also affected the results greatly.
Immediately after I started communicating with the Professor and the accommodations office to let them know what happened. After months of investigation and many, many emails and phone calls it seems there was a communication error and Dr. Dods letter will offer more detail. This has lead to my requesting a credit standing for MATH 121.
