Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard:

I am writing in regards to several courses taken over the Fall 2017 term. I would like to appeal to drop the following courses from my transcript: CLST 312, CLST 332, CLST 341, HIST 218, and LLCU 329. I initially intended to write an appeal and drop the aforementioned courses during the Fall 2017 term. However, due to the worsening of my mental health, I was unable to complete my appeal in a timely fashion.
I started the 2017-2018 year with plans to complete my degree. Over the course of the Fall term, my mental health steadily grew worse. I decided it would be best for my health and safety to take time away from university around November 2017, past the initial drop date for courses. I began an appeal to drop my courses late, but my mood disorders severely worsened, and are only now, in Fall 2018, stabilizing.
As of right now, I am still continuing to improve my mental health and stability. My doctor is continuing to watch my medications to see if any adjustments are required. However, in the future, I would like to return to university and complete my degree. My plans would be to take a lighter course load. Having these courses dropped from my transcript would be beneficial to both my future career at Queen¿¿s and other endeavours.
