Petition Letter

Petition Letter: This letter is to inform you that I am back healthy again after suffering from serious mental issues in the last few years. I have contacted my various teachers and they have all agreed to accept my outstanding work in order for me to finally complete their classes. They all indicated that I need to submit an appeal request to initiate the process and they will be more than happy to accept the outstanding work and adjust my grade accordingly. I had a few exchanges with Ms McCallister last year to start this process as she was assisting with my special needs. They have all doctors letters for your reference, but i have included them in this request as well. My doctor is available to discuss at your convenience with you.
In my last few years at Queens University, I was suffering from severe depression. During my last fulltime year, it got worst and I lost track of everything. My doctor took ownership of my situation by trying to find the right medication and also sending me for therapy. It has been a very difficult 2 years and it looks like I am getting out of the dark tunnel and finally finding a reason to move forward and take control of my life.
In the last 2 years, I also had to deal with my Dad getting diagnosed with cancer. I was fortunately there for him, and supporting him through his treatments and he now is finally out of danger and in remission.
In early 2017, I was ready to get my Queens outstanding work completed and contact my various professors, when my mother suffered from an aneurism. It was touch and go for a while and she pulled through. This affected me tremendously as my mom is my rock. She is the one helping me through my depression and comes with me to the doctor. She got me a personal trainer to get my health and confidence back she is amazing. The thought of having almost lost her was terrifying for me. I concentrated the rest of 2017 to get myself better and also to help my mother and my father as I have them to thank for everything.
Since 2018 started, I found a job to make money and pay for my school debts and things are going well so far. The only thing that is preventing me to move forward and find adequate work and set myself for the future is my graduation from Queens. In order to do that, I need to complete the courses that I started and left due to the reasons above.
During my years at Queens prior to my depression, I was a very capable student and was very eager to deliver only perfect work to my professors. This is something I also discussed with my therapist as I was putting too much pressure on delivering perfection always.
In my 2015-17 years, the person that I was sharing an apartment with in Kingston was horrible to me and push me over the edge and it all went down from there. I don't want to get into her details, but she had to be institutionalized since her case was very serious. I then abandoned everything and went back home to mom and dad. As stated above, it was also difficult at home, but I helped as much as I could and got to my weekly appointments and finally wanted to get up in the morning and see the sun shining.
One month ago, something triggered me to do the right thing and finish what I started. Life is too fragile and too short. My favorite cousin, who has a 2-year-old daughter, got into a massive accident and he will never walk again. I traveled to Quebec to see him, and after many tearful discussions with him I realized that I should pull up my pants and finish my Queens degree and go on from there with my life.
This is a long letter to you, but I would like you to understand my mental health situation and why I wasn't delivering the required work to my teachers at that time. I know what needs to be done and I am asking you for the opportunity to have a second chance and provide them with all the missing work. It would mean the world to me to have this great second chance and the opportunity to finally graduate at the glorious Queens University.
Here are the courses and teachers that I would like to include in my appeal:
GPHY101 Johnatan Rose
HLTH230 Jeffrey Lalonde
LING360 Bronwyn Bjorkman
GNDS125 Melissa Houghtaling
LING205 Lorena Jessop
COMM357 Kate Rowbotham

For the committee to accept the delivery of my late work would be a life saving event for me. If you ask my teachers, I was an excellent student. I just need one more chance and wrap up what is outstanding and get my degree from Queen's University.

I have contacted all of them via email and they are aware of my appeal and awaiting for the process to start in order for me to hand in all my outstanding work.

Thank you for your help and assistance.
