Petition Letter: Dear Officer,
My name is Kevin Liu and I am currently taking my final year at Queen¿¿s University.
I know I probably should have engaged in this process you earlier, but things have been hectic, and I had several course things that I had to email, ask and confirm about and see if possible. I only returned from China on September 21st two days after the final add period of new courses as unfortunately during my visit to China this summer, my grandmother who had been stricken with Alzheimer¿¿s passed away and I had to rearrange for a later return date. Due to this, I had ended up with complications with a visa extension in China and having to make and side trip to Korea and then return to China (they asked me to leave Chinese soil) to renew my visa. Thus, I unfortunately missed the first few weeks of the new semester and ultimately the adding course deadline. This also affected my ability to make up in time for several of my courses resulting in me dropping the courses.
I was hoping to be able to ask to join two courses late and I have a plan to complete them as well as getting in touch with the instructors to complete any makeup assignments and assessments in time.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I will approach taking two courses late with only about 4 weeks left in the semester with a utilize time effectively mentality. The recommended time spent per course over the semester is 120 hours and this is achievable as I have completed most of the work for my current 2 courses and can focus and complete these two new courses if added.
My plan has several steps that I intend to follow to make up the material.
1. To keep in regular contact with the instructors to complete any assessments as make up and with a strict timeline.
2. I will organize my time mainly around the two newer courses as I have had enough time to study and complete assessments for those.
3. In taking online courses, I can devote more time to reading through and understanding the material in more time without worrying what I have missed in terms of lectures.
4. I will ensure that I complete every element of the courses needed and if not, confident I would not have applied for this appeal process.
5. In terms of the remaining four weeks, I can easily put 60 hours each week to these two courses as well as maintaining my regular daily activities.
