Petition Letter: Hello
I am an international first-year student and I took SPAN111 this semester as my third language. First of all, I do not know as the introduction to Spanish course will be that difficult and it is more difficult for me because I learn Spanish with English which is my second language. However, there was no grades at onq for this course that I even do not know I already fail this course. After the midterm for weeks which already passed the final deadline of dropping the courses, I just know the grades were really low but it was too late.
I have hives, also known as urticaria, which is a kind of skin rash with red, raised, itchy bumps. Often the patches of rash move around the whole body that I have to lie on the bed and use the medicinal liquid. They last a few days that sometimes it let me cannot go to school. Moreover, I also have polycystic ovary syndrome which needs to do the medical treatment with diabetes due to the Abnormal Hormone Levels. These both are the chronic disease that I have to accept the long-term treatment but it keeps on returning. I talked with my professor, finished all my homework and always go to class. I tried my best to study this third language but it is too difficult because I always sick and need medicines for my sickness. I went to the Arts and Science Academy Center and tried to get help from the academic advisor. However, the advisor told me that I should go to the Spanish Department and get permission from them. I went to the Kingston Hall but there was no Spanish Department and finally, I found the Literature and Language Department. The staff there told me they do not have the power let me drop the course and I have to do the appeal in Dunning Hall which means I have to go back Arts and Science Academy Center again. As the first-years student I am unfamiliar with the steps at school but the mistakes that the advisor had waste lots of my time and makes my appeal submit later I would like to drop SPAN111 as soon as possible. I want to major in history and I am worried about my GPA due to this course. Thank you very much and hopefully get to feedback soon.
