Petition Letter: Hi, I'm a second year student who's re-doing the first year. At the end of 2018 winter, my dad was really sick and was in a circumstance where he had to be in ICU. I had to go back to Korea to see my dad and family and around March and April of 2018 I had to go back to Korea for many times; therefore, missed most of the classes at the end of the school year and missed all of my finals. I had the chance to take the final when I come back on September of 2018 but during the summer, I wasn't able to study because my dad passed away on April. I'm redoing the first year and I really need to get a decent GPA in order to major in Psychology. I'm currently taking CLST 102 and I've taken the midterm (didn't do great) and missed 25 writing assignment because I misread the instruction ( I somehow thought 'noon' as 'midnight' and tried to upload my document after 'noon'.) I've emailed the professor and didn't get a reply. I thought of doing a great job on the final but I realized that the only way to pass this course is getting 100 on the final to get around 50 of the final mark. I know that I have to do my best in order to at least pass the course but I know that there's no way that I'm going to get 100 on my final and pass this course I started to get really distracted and overwhelmed. It started to affect my sleeping time and studying so I'm writing this letter for you to excuse me and let me drop the course.
