Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Bénard,
I am writing this letter in order to ask for special permission to drop CISC 203 in the fall 2018 term even though the deadline has passed.
My name is Kaiwen Huang, and I'm a 4th year life sciences student at Queen's university. This year, I enrolled in some computer science courses to get a feel for what they're like. One of these courses was CISC203. However, I eventually decided to drop the course, but after the deadline for dropping without an academic penalty. My decision was delayed as I spent quite a while discussing this issue with my parents, and by the time we'd concluded, the deadline had passed. This being the first time I've dropped a course after the deadline, I wasn't sure how it would work, and when I tried to drop it on SOLUS last week I received an error message. I've been in correspondence with the SOLUS team and they informed me that I would need to make an appeal in order to drop this course. It was entirely an error on my part, and I incorrectly assumed that I would still be able to drop the course after the deadline, with a record of the course remaining on my transcript.
I am deeply regretful that it has come to this, but receiving a failure or incomplete on my transcript would be very detrimental for my plans after graduation, especially with so little time remaining to fix such an error. I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me resolve this issue.
