Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you to request an appeal my grades for the following courses, Psychology 300, 332, 400, English 265 and Biology 111, all occurring during or after the winter term of 2003.
In support of my request, I am submitting a letter from Dr. Carol Harris, former Associate Director of Health, Counselling and Disability Services at Queen¿¿s University. In this letter, she confirms that I was exposed to a situation that was both frightening and harassing, leaving a negative impact on my ability to concentrate on my studies. During the winter term, 2003, I met with a crisis counsellor on a bi-weekly basis while continuing my studies. The courses that were effected by this experience are the ones that I am appealing. This experience was traumatizing and has taken years to get accept and resolve.
The reason why I have not appealed these grades earlier is two-fold. Firstly, it is due to the sensitive nature of the incident (on-going intimidation, threats & stalking) that continues to leave me both ashamed and embarrassed. And secondly, I never wanted to disclose this to my family. I wanted to keep it a secret. As my experience was terrifying and on going in my last year at Queen¿¿s University, I would like to request that it no longer lives within my academic records. I was not the perpetrator, rather the victim, and by having these grades on my transcript further victimize me.
Thank-you for your time in reading this letter and your consideration on this matter.
Thanks and Best,
Lindsay Ostridge
