Re: Academic Appeal: Request to Drop PHIL 445
Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing to drop PHIL 445 (Fall, 2018), taken with Professor John Miller. I have an ongoing mental health condition of depression and anxiety, for which I registered with Accessibility Services in 2017. In late October of 2018 I had a particularly bad episode which resulted in my failing to complete coursework and missing several classes, causing me to fail the course. Professor Miller has been aware of my situation throughout the semester and has indicated his support of my appeal.
Moving forward, I am taking a less challenging course load for the winter 2019 semester and will be checking in more frequently with my supporting physician, Dr. Farnworth. I believe that I have recovered from the episode and will not have similar issues in the winter semester.
