Petition Letter: This semester I am an intern for the Kingston Canadian Film Festival. This internship counts as a FILM 395 credit. This course was not added to my schedule making me 3.0 units short from graduating. I will explain why this course was not successfully added by Jan 18th below.
Because FILM 395 is an internship it cannot be added by a student to solos and needs to be added by a faculty member.
On Friday December 14th 2018 I sent in my FILM 395 internship application to the Film and Media Undergraduate Chair, Scott Mackenzie, and this internship was approved by him on January 14th 2019.
On January 14th 2019, Scott Mackenzie emailed Stephanie Wilson, the Film and Media Undergraduate Administrative Assistant, and asked her to add FILM 395 to my schedule. But because of the hold on my account, Stephanie was unable to make this change.
On January 17th 2019 I no longer had a hold on my account and I emailed Stephanie this update. I believed she would have added FILM 395 to my schedule on either January 17th or January 18th.
When I checked my Solus on January 21st I saw FILM 395 was not added to my schedule and emailed Stephanie asking her to add it. She explained to me that I would have to submit an appeal to Arts & Science in order to be enrolled in the FILM 395 course.
I have already completed hours of work for this internship and Marc Garniss, my supervisor, can be contacted to validate this. His email is marc@kingcanfilmfest.com
With this internship, I have already learned amazing skills that are beneficial for finding a job in the film industry. Without this course, I will be 3.0 credits short from graduating in the spring, so it is really important that it be added into my schedule.
I believe that FILM 395 not being added to my schedule was at the fault of the Film and Media Undergraduate Administrative Assistant. In saying this, I do also understand that I should have been more diligent with following up on the email I sent her. Lastly I want to stress that I will provide as much information and documents needed to ensure that I am able to be enrolled in FILM 395

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My academic plan is to continue to work diligently on the internship as well as my three other courses. It is my plan to graduate in the spring - and to do so I need to be enrolled in film 395.
