Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
I am a returning student to the Faculty of Arts and Science to pursue credits for other programs. This is why I am not in a degree plan at the moment, though I have graduated with my BAH, and later my MPA. However, before the end of my BAH, in the summer of my third year, I was in the Bader International Study Centre.
Before even that, I was becoming gradually more and more lethargic. I was unable to perform normal duties, but it happened so slowly, I didn't even register the change. Eventually, having made it to the BISC, I fell terribly ill at the end of the first week. I was quarantined in a separate unoccupied wing of the dorm area, and was unable to keep water or food down from Friday to Tuesday.
Once Tuesday came around, I was taken to the hospital, where I stayed for 14 days recovering. I was told I had Addison's Disease and had been operating on dangerously low levels of critical steroids for an extended period, gradually running out until I experienced an Addisonian Crisis. This was why I had been so tired, so lethargic for so long, and it wasn't until I was given those critical doses of steroids that I began to feel like myself again, for the first time in years. I was able to complete my term at the BISC (despite missing 1/4 of the term), and succeed in my fourth year. I however, find myself still haunted by the marks before I was treated, and I was not myself in the slightest during this time.
As a result, I wanted to appeal some of the marks beforehand, as my marks afterwards can clearly demonstrate, they are not remotely representative of my skills and being judged based on them is unreasonable. If you look at my grades, you can see the dramatic jump in my marks after that point. I simply want to appeal those courses beforehand that exploited my weakness.

SOCY 275, SOCY 276 and SOCY 211 are the courses I most want to appeal at this point. I didn't appeal earlier because I didn't think they would be looked at so far back in my academic history, but it's easy to see my marks after receiving treatment are nothing like those beforehand. Take SOCY 211 for example, I received a D+ in that course, but in POLS 400 (which was a statistics based course as well that year, and was recognised by the School of Policy Studies as such), I received an A- after treatment. That is a jump of about 25.
