Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am requesting to drop my current course load of ENGL 200, ARTH 342, ARTH 354, ARTH 308, and ARTH 210 because of an ongoing difficulty with mental health. I have been struggling with depression and anxiety since before I came to Queens, and while I have tried to seek out help during my time at Queens and finish my degree in the usual 4 years, my doctor, my family, and I have decided that taking some time from school would be best for my mental wellness. We think this would be best because I can live with my family and get the support that I need at this time. I will be working with my doctor, family, and psychologist to work towards getting healthier, and will be trying my best to find a combination of therapy and medication that suits me. I do wish to finish my degree in time, but looking at my grades over the past 3 years and seeing how my mental health has declined, I know that this needs to be a priority for me right now. I plan to return to Queen's next year and finish my degree online.
