Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean,
My name is Katie Rattray and I would like to drop the course CWRI 295 as per the professor¿¿s suggestion. Week 5 of this semester I was admitted to hospital for an unforeseeable medical emergency. It took a lot longer to heal from the illness than anticipated so that is why I am only appealing now. March 1st, I realize was the date to drop a course without academic penalty. Realizing I probably couldn¿¿t continue to keep up with a full course load, I dropped ANAT 100. I didn¿¿t think at the time, since I thought the healing would be faster, that I¿¿d need to drop two however, now the professor and I both agree it would be too much for me to complete this course whilst continuing my treatment. This professor has been more than helpful in guiding me to this conclusion. She has made me feel supported and truly wants the best education for me. As she¿¿s already given me permission, if this appeal is approved, I¿¿ll be taking this course again next winter. As for now: 4 courses, going back to work, continuing treatment and dealing with such a debilitating illness, has just become too overwhelming.
