Petition Letter: I, Zeyana Laplante am appealing to have a ¿¿late drop¿ for the following course: FREN 150.
The reason for my appeal is due to extenuating circumstances regarding my health that is beyond my control. I am currently in my second year of studies here at Queen¿¿s and I have been suffering from medical issues since first year. New medical problems have surfaced since last year, causing me to spend many hours of my weeks spent in hospitals, traveling to see doctors, or having phone calls with various doctors to try to find answers, this has made me miss many classes, and has made me less able to commit my energy to my academics. This has resulted in me doing poorly in this course. In addition to my health problems, I, unfortunately, had a to deal with a TA¿¿s sexual misconduct towards me earlier this academic year. Having to deal with the stress of the sexual misbehavior has severally taken a toll on me physically, emotionally, and academically. The reason that I am appealing this course past the deadline is that I was trying to push through throughout the class but I am now realizing it was all too much to bear, and I was pushing with too much on my plate which essentially resulted in me breaking. I worked alongside Barbara Lotan throughout this difficult time, and she will be providing appropriate documentation to back up my request.
I hope that you are able to understand my request in my appeal for a late drop in FREN 150. If you need any additional information on my end I would be pleased to provide it.
Thank you,
Zeyana Laplante - 20060475
