Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. It was because of this diagnosis that I made the decision to be a part time student coming into my third year of Queens this semester, only taking two classes. However, I slowly saw that in my ninth month of this illness, the depression had taken over my immune system and I was very, very ill. I dropped one of my classes, thinking taking one class would be manageable but with dizzy spells making me sick in class, spending days bed ridden, missing classes because of doctors appointments and hospital visits, this semester has been unique to say the least. My professor has been very understanding and supportive throughout it, but she, along with my doctors and parents all believe it is the right decision to take the rest of the semester off to make my health a priority and I have to agree with them. This is an appeal to request to waive the 21- day appeal deadline.
