Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Studies)
I am appealing to drop the course CHEM 281 (Fall, 2014).
On October 2nd, I was tested for strep throat and mono at Hotel Dieu and given antibiotics, hours after I had written Midterm 1 for this course. On the first midterm I passed, however I did not do very well, believing it to be due to the fact that I had been very ill the same day with a high fever. I decided to continue the course, believing that the cause of my poor result to be due to illness. Yesterday, we received our results from midterm 2, which I failed. Had I not been ill on the first midterm, I would have dropped the course earlier, however since I was ill I believed the cause of my poor result to be due to this extenuating circumstance. Since I have written the second midterm, I realize that this was not the case, which is why I wish to drop the course.
Should this appeal be granted, I wish to change plans from Environmental Toxicology to Environmental Biology, as I would not need to take this course for that degree plan. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely
Denby McDonnell
