Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern:

I am writing to request an appeal to drop HLTH 235 beyond the drop deadline. I was unable to drop this previously as I had thought that this would be manageable with my work load and mental health. However due to extenuating circumstances, including family illness, the impact on my mental health has made completion of the course no longer something I am able to successfully complete. In addition to not being able to complete this course, I have also moved my PSYC 501 thesis to the Fall of 2020 with approval of supporting faculty.

I have met with academic advising and my QSAS advisor, as well as Counselling services and feel that this would be the best option at this time. This would allow me to focus on completion of my remaining courses as well as focus on recovering from the circumstances and lasting effects. I plan to return in September to retake a health course as well as finish my thesis so that I can successfully graduate.
I also plan to return to Queens in September so as to increase my overall GPA in my PSYCH related courses so that I can successfully apply to grad schools following graduation.
