Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop the course History 430 after the term deadline. I have been suffering from physical and psychological illness for the past 6 months. I have consulted both a healthcare and mental health professional during my year at queen's in order to get assistance during this difficult time. This illness has affected my schoolwork and ability to attend all my classes during the school year. I struggled to participate in seminar and get assignments done on time due to being incapable of getting out of bed somedays. I have been speaking to a mental health helpline and attending doctor appointments in Toronto frequently. I have spoken to the professors Dr. Husain and Dr. Greenfield and they encourage and are supporting me to drop this course in order for me to take it next year when I can fully commit to attending the course and doing all assignments. I have tried to succeed and do my best in all my courses this year but I struggled with attendance and handing in assignments on time. I plan to retake this course next year as I still want to succeed in my undergrad at queen's.
