Petition Letter: Hello,
My name is William Melanson-O'Neill and I am a third year student in the school of computing. I am requesting to drop CISC 332 after the deadline outlined on the Queen's Faculty of Arts & Science calendar.
Throughout the year, I have had issues pertaining to addiction and mental health. I did not reach out for help after the fall semester, as I believed that the new semester would serve as a fresh start. I have yet to tell my family about my struggles, as we have a lengthy and serious history of mental health disorders, particularly in men on my father's side.
As a residence don, I felt as though I should contact a residence outreach counselor for advice on the next steps. I have attached documentation provided by Mr. Summers, and have agreed to meet with a physician in Kingston as well as seek psychiatric assistance when I am in Ottawa for my internship.
I've managed to keep up most of my grades this year through independent study, however, in CISC 332 in particular I was unable to do so. I am requesting to drop CISC 332 at this time to allow me to take it following my QUIP internship.
I will be happy to answer any questions pertaining to my request, feel free to contact me at 16wmon@queensu.ca
Thank-you very much for your time,
William
