Petition Letter

Petition Letter: In the last weeks of school, my parents and I came to the difficult realization that my anxiety regarding the course and the amount of work that was still necessary to complete the course was extremely overwhelming and debilitating. During this time, my grandfather had become very ill, contributing to my struggle with mental health. I attempted to drop the course online, and failed to realize it did not go through as it was too late. Unfortunately, I only realized a couple of days before the exam block for this course that I was still enrolled.

The course was designed to have completed three essays by the last day of classes and included a final exam. Around the last week and a half of classes, the course was far behind, resulting in two of the three essays being due still and a final exam. All being due within less than a month, (during the last week of class and the exam period) as well as a final exam for the course, I knew I was unable to complete all of the course work as I was dealing with mental health, a family emergency and the stress of other course work and exams.

With the state of my mental health and everything that is going on with my family, I ask if I can please be removed from the course. Completing the course became difficult with the due date alterations resulting in one essay being due in the last week of class and another long essay being due during the exam period, on top of the final exam, and while having other work and exams in other classes. The course being pushed back heightened my anxiety as I was expected to complete the work later than originally planned in the syllabus and during a short period of time. My mental health at this time is weakening and under these circumstances I do not believe it is in my best interest to remain in this course.

Thank you, I very much appreciate your time and consideration.
