Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing the faculty¿¿s decision to have the following courses changed to credit standings, RELS 162, FILM 110 and POLS110 and for a late drop of PSYC 100. The reason being that last year my mother had been told she had stage 4 cancer which took a major toll on my mental health and ability to focus on my academics. Due to this, I had to often go home to help my mother and be by her side during her operations and hospital stay, leaving me unable to perform to my best ability in these courses. My reason for not sending in this appeal earlier is due to the fact that I was not informed of this option until a recent academic consultation appointment. Thank you for taking the time to review my appeal. Due to my mother's recovery from her cancer, the issue is currently less severe and therefore my mother does not require a great deal of assistance. If this appeal is granted I will most likely be able to study my desired major of Film and Media, additionally, I will have more time to focus on my studies assuming no more unexpected issues arise.
