Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,
I am appealing for a credit standing in the courses of ECON 110, PSYC 100, and SOCY 122 (Full Year, 2017/2018). I am appealing now for my first-year courses because I did not know it was an option for me until I saw an academic advisor. First year I was dealing with culture shock since I am from Ecuador and it was my first time living in Canada. Moreover, I went throughout first year with undiagnosed severe anemia (iron deficiency) that left me with extreme fatigue and weakness, and ended up getting pneumonia (Fall, 2017). This prevented me from doing my best in these courses and had a great impact on the outcome of my grades, especially in ECON 110, PSYC 100 and SOCY 122. I noticed that I was not doing well in the Winter term (2018) so I participated with the bounce back program and saw the Peer Health Outreach Coordinator. During the summer I went home to Ecuador and underwent medical exams in order to figure out why I was still not feeling like myself and always tired. I have started to continuously get my blood work checked for my iron levels and to make sure that I am taking the right amount of iron. I plan to continue checking on my iron levels and adjusting my medicine if needed.
