Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to appeal my final online proctored exam grade for LAW201 Winter 2019. Throughout the semester, I was very diligent in completing timely, high quality assignments and tests that contributed to a strong grade in the course, reaching an A average prior to the completion of the online written exam.
On the morning of April 16, I woke up feeling very nauseous, with flu-like symptoms, forcing me to question whether or not I should, in fact, write the final exam. Due to the fact that my exam was scheduled to be written at 9 am that morning, I did not have a great deal of time to reach out to the professor to attempt to make alternate arrangements. In consideration of this, I decided to commence my exam, regardless of my doubts of my physical health.
Throughout the exam, I believe my sudden onset of illness significantly impacted my ability to critically think and properly answer the questions, despite the extensive time I spent preparing and studying for the exam. Approximately halfway through taking the test, I had to leave the room as I was suddenly very sick and upon return, I attempted to finish the examination as quickly as possible because of this situation. This was something that was largely out of my control and I attempted to at least complete the exam as a result.
Overall, this unfortunate situation significantly impacted my ability to complete the exam to the best of my ability and as a result, will impact my high grade that was achieved before the completion of the final examination. I confidently feel as though my final exam grade of 56 could have been substantially higher, contributing to the consistently high marks I achieved throughout the semester and potentially high final grade.
Overall, I am requesting that compensation be given as a result of this grade, either by increasing my final exam mark as a whole or by waiving it all together.
