Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Good morning,
I am requesting to add EMPR 230 after the academic deadline and plan to drop HIST 214.
The reason I would like to enroll in EMPR 230 is that it is applicable to my role here at Queen's. We are currently in the hiring phase for a position that will support my role. We also conduct interviews throughout November for students who wish to go on exchange the following year. I believe this course will give me skills to use in both situations.
Unfortunately, I was not aware that I would be able to take this course when I was selecting courses for the summer, as I thought the courses were meant for a business student and not open to students outside of a business program. A colleague told me about the course and how valuable she was finding it. I would have added the course during enrollment otherwise. During my studies, I have never requested a course to be added late, or appealed, so I take this process very seriously and would not go through this process if I didn't feel the course would be of great value.
I do plan to drop HIST 214 as this would replace that course - I find the course very interesting and hope to take the course at a later date.
My colleague that is enrolled in EMPR 230 has agreed to work with me to catch up on the materials I have missed so far, and as I mentioned to Professor Fisk in my email, I am committed to working on this material to catch up. I do not expect to have any special treatment or consideration to my deliverables, as I take full responsibility that it is up to me to meet all course requirements. I am using a study plan and assignment plan to keep me on track with all assignments this semester and have found this to be a useful tool for me, and all my deliverables this semester have been completed early when possible, and on time for those that have restrictions (quizzes).
I thank you in advance for your consideration.
Take care,
Jacoba

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have been working on my B.A. for several years now as a Queen's employee. I have found that the summer month is the best semester for me to enroll into additional courses because I have more time to dedicate to my studies.
My study plan has involved me taking one course in the fall semester, since this is the busiest time in my role at Queen's, two courses in the winter semester and two courses in the summer semester. Because of this plan and dedication, I am on track to graduate in just over a year from now. I am very dedicated to completing my degree.
