Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean of Arts & Science,

I am writing to request aegrotat standing (AG) for my final mark in PHIL240 which I completed as part of the Winter 2014 term.

On March 21st while working I was involved in a car accident which left me with a mild concussion and a broken wrist. These injuries (particularly the broken wrist) left me unable to write the required exam for PHIL240 at the end of the term.

In discussions with Professor Fairfield and Spring Forsberg from the Faculty office (Student Support) it was agreed that I would complete my outstanding work (essays etc.) for the course based on an adjusted timeline and would not write the final exam as the coursework represented more than 60 of my final mark.

Having completed the required work Professor Fairfield agreed to provide aegrogat standing provided that the appropriate appeals were put into place.

I would respectfully request that my final mark in the course be re-evaluated with this in mind and reflect the accomplishment of my efforts based on the work that I could accomplish and not be weighed down by the missing exam result.

I can provide if required a note from my physician confirming the injury and the fact that I was (and remain) unable of writing effectively by hand.
