Petition Letter: Hello,
I wish to drop the course late due to an ongoing illness. I have been struggling with bulimia for almost a
decade. It has created a multitude of problems for me and has gotten significantly worse this past year. I had stayed in Kingston for the summer hoping that I would be officially diagnosed so I could receive continuous accommodations, as my bulimia has been a roller coaster where I never know what my condition will be. However, there was a mix up during blood work, and the hospital never contacted me.I thought that I could handle a regular course load this year and wanted to push through it. However ,my bulimia has caused me to be too exhausted and preoccupied with food to focus on anything else. It has a mind of its own. It also makes me extremely anxious to attend class because it has given me crippling self-esteem issues where I am too embarrassed or ashamed to attend class. This class particularly, our professor was extremely kind to be flexible with the due dates of assignment s.It was really a class I enjoyed, however, because my life revolved around my bulimia and I knew Dr. Dueck was kind enough to be lenient with the dates of the assignment, I burned myself out on the other courses and by the end exam season had caused me so much distress that I mentally and physically did not have the energy to write them and catch up.
