Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello, my name is Alex Payne and im a first year student that is requesting that I am granted approval on my appeal to drop my summer course after the deadline. I am writing this appeal because recently I have been struggling with some personal mental health issues as I have been needing to work 40+ hours a week this summer to continue to afford attending queens in the following school term.
With these extensive work hours I have felt mentally exhausted and unhealthy as I am trying to balance school, family and work and overall im finding this quite difficult. Along with work I have recently found out that my grandfather was diagnosed with late staged cancer which has personally caused a lot of mental stress on my part along with the rest of my family. On May 31 (last date to drop the course), I was planning to drop the course when i got home from work but after working a long shift that day I came home and got told about my grandfathers condition and that took total precedent resulting in me forgetting to drop the course that night.
The next morning I had somewhat of a breakdown as I realized that I would no longer be able to drop the course without approval or risk some sort of academic penalty. This resulted in me doing some research and landing me where I am now writing my appeal. As mental health is a serious issue, I am not trying to use my situation as an excuse but instead trying to justify my reasoning for my appeal.
I hope that my appeal is suffice and justifies my request for approval to drop the course. Thank you for taking your time to read my appeal.
