Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Appeal Committee,

I am writing to have the 21 day deadline waived as I missed the deadline by one day. Instead of submitting it on June 11th, I submitted it on June 12th. I am very regretful of this and I am asking for you to reconsider this decision.

I am also mindful of the fact that I am already asking to have the decision that I withdraw from Queens for the 2019-2020 year reversed.

The process of having to write the letter made me reflect on a lot of things. I spent a lot of time thinking about the past twelve months, what I wanted to say and what my plan would be to change the outcome for next year. I was very pleased with my letter and my plan as I feel that I actually have a plan, and I am confident that when implemented, I will have a much better, more successful year in all aspects of my life.

I had the letter completed by June 11 but I wanted to send all my documentation in at the same time. My mother was writing a letter to add to my appeal and my father had the form from the psychologist I saw last summer. I wanted to send all the documentation together and we couldn¿¿t find the documentation from the psychologist. To complicate matters, late in day on the 11th my family had a significant family event/emergency which distracted us from putting all the letters and forms together. The family situation was our immediate concern.

The next day was a bit chaotic as my parents both work and so do I. After work on Tuesday the 12th I decided to submit my letter independent of the other documentation. My parents were both working but I didn¿¿t want to wait so I figured that they could send the other documents later.

I am truly regretful of the last minute nature of my appeal. I should have completed it earlier to avoid the last minute complications. In no way does it reflect my strong passion about wanting to come back. As I mentioned, I have already learned so much from this process and was hopeful about the prospect of returning for a second chance. I hope that you will consider reading my letter as I feel that you may understand how much I am committed to changing myself for the better in the upcoming school year.
