Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing this as an appeal to allow me to take more than the allotted 6 credits using letters of permissions from the Department of Economics. I am planning on taking courses through the University of Toronto¿¿s visiting student¿¿s program at Wentworth College over the next two semesters (Fall 2019 and Winter 2020). I would like to take the remainder of the courses required to complete my B.A Honours degree at UofT for reasons which I will outline below.
I spent 5 years studying at Queens working towards completing my B.A Honours degree, however beginning in my 3rd year I began to suffer from serious depression and other mental health issues. I attempted to turn around my academic mishaps, however once most of my peers had graduated and I began living in an apartment alone in 5th year, it became apparent that I would not be able to bounce back while living in Kingston. This was because I no longer had any support from my friends and peers and there was already so much negative emotion and scarring attached to the campus and locations in Kingston.
I moved back to Toronto in 2018 and have been working out my mental health issues with the help of my Doctor, my family, and my therapist who I have been seeing weekly for nearly a year. This support group, along with anti-depressant medication has improved the state of my mental health, however I am not willing to take the risk of going back to Kingston alone and once again trying through sheer will to complete the last few classes I need for my degree.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I spoke with Karen Scanlan, Curriculum and Letters of Permission assistant a few weeks ago in order to come up with an academic plan so that I may complete my BA Honours degree. I plan to take 3 courses per semester over the next two semesters at the University of Toronto ¿¿ Wentworth College. The exact courses that I am looking to take I have yet to confirm, however they will include 3rd year Econometrics, 4th year Econometrics, a 4th year seminar, at least two 400 level courses, and a 300 level course. These are the required courses that I have yet to complete for my degree, and I am eager to work on them in Toronto. I will have the details of these courses as well as more information about them once I am able to submit my request for the letters of permission.
In conclusion, I would like to appeal to allow me to take 18 credits at University of Toronto using letters of permission from the Economics Department in order to complete my Queen¿¿s degree which I worked so hard at in Kingston, but which must be completed in Toronto, surrounded by my support group. I have attached letters from my therapist and doctor in Toronto, as well as the therapist I was referred to at by the Health & Wellness center at Queen¿¿s and saw throughout my 5th year.
