Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am applying for Aegortat standing for three of my sociology courses. The courses are Socy 362, Socy 476 and Socy 457. After reviewing the syllabus, I am under the impression that I have completed over 60 of the work allowing the appeal to work. I will not be applying for Aegortat standing for Socy 284 since it is a 45 final assignment.
The extenuating circumstances beyond my control is that I have been dealing with a physical illness since November 24, 2014 and after seeing the doctor multiple times, I will not be in complete health until after January 1st, making me unable to complete what has been asked by my professors. Since the 24th of November, I had been in touch with each professor assuming I would be better in time to complete the assignment. After a week or so, I was not having improvements to my health. From there I was granted several extensions. Professor Da Costa and Dr. Kay both offered several extensions. After the first week of December came around, I still had not seen any health improvements and was still experiencing ongoing fever and other maladies. The ongoing fever, throat and ear issues prevented me from taking the required time needed to complete the final assignments. My health has not improved much over the last several weeks and I will need a lot of rest and sleep to recover. It was at this point the doctor said I would not experience full health until January. Leading me to go ahead to contact Sue Blake to find out my options.
This is my last semester at Queen's University as a full time student. I have applied to graduate in the Spring 2015 Convocation. I have arranged with the Economics department to have a deferred exam, and I will come back at the arranged time to complete my Econ 112 exam. I chose not to drop this course because I would like to pursue and complete a minor in Economics. I feel that an Economics minor on my diploma will be a good selling tool for me in the future.
