Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To: Whom it may concern,

My name is Jenna Shea.

I am in the interest Student Program completing the Psyc100 course.

I would like to request that I¿¿d be withdrawn from this class, as I failed my mid-term exam.

I would like to apologize for the late request however, I just received my midterm mark today (July 4th 2019), which is after the allotted ¿¿drop deadline¿.

The reason for my plea is because, not only have I failed my mid-term in the Psyc100, I also failed STATS243 in the winter term. I have been advised that I would need at least an 80 or better in the Psyc100 course to be able to continue in the ¿¿Interest Student Program¿. As I am already dealing with a learning disability and utilizing a tutor on a weekly basis only to achieve a 32 on my exam, I don¿¿t believe that an 80 or better is feasible.

After speaking with the Academic Services, I have been advised to appeal to be withdrawn from the course, so that I don¿¿t lose the potential to participate in future courses as I would not maintain the 1.6 required average I would need to continue my education at Queens.

I have been attempting to complete my studies without the accommodations I require as I understood that an IEP that is over 5 years old would not be accepted as valid.

I was also advised to attempt to register for the fall term Psyc100 course as it is delivered at a slower pace.

I am not seeking a refund as a am aware that the date to drop classes has passed, I am simply looking for a way to be able to take courses at Queens in the fall.

I have tried my hardest to complete what has been asked of me. But as is stands I don¿¿t feel that I will be successful in this course.

I am extremely sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you. I appreciate any assistance that you can provide.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow with this wonderful university and I have learned a lot. But due to my learning challenges I feel as though I won¿¿t be successful in this particular course at this pace.

Thank you for everything,

Jenna Shea
