Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

My name is Brandon St.Pierre and I am appealing to have my summer courses ENIN 140 and WRIT 120 to be late dropped. Over the course of my previous semesters, I faced many external struggles relating to family illness and my illness. I set up meetings and talked with mental health advisors at Queen's and the gentleman working there noted it would take around a year or so of positive habits to overcome my problems. I took ENIN 140 and WRIT 120 in the summer term of 2019 from July-August to get more credits and good grades to my transcript. Unfortunately, an ongoing battle and only one of my several external issues, in which my Grandmother is undergoing her third chemo treatment has affected me greatly. My parents have been going back and forth and I have been struggling to deal with these issues and the distance to Niagra Falls has certainly been a factor. Furthermore, my mother had to go back to Japan to see the health of my Grandmother as she is also alone and dealing with her problems. My mental health advisor who essentially told me I had depression and anxiety has also helped me to see how I can overcome these issues. The problems that these have caused have not allowed me to perform to my academic abilities in the slightest, and I have not been able to focus on my School work as these issues have been emotionally draining and stressing, as well as extremely time-consuming. These events have caused me a lot of psychological stress and not being able to participate in the course as I would have liked to and now may show up on my transcript as an F is also a huge concern. In the moments where I was able to submit my work, I did very well, however for the rest of the content, I was not present due to these external factors. There are many more saddening factors that I would not like to go in depth with, however if you would like verification I believe Queen's Mental health department may have a confidential folder about my issues. Here are two supporting documents from the previous incident. As it is confidential and encrypted, the password is: Green42

Please, keep this confidential as it is a very personal matter for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Best Regards,
Brandon St.Pierre
