New Information: This amendment to the above appeal numbered 6106 is in relation to the request to wave the (21 day or one term deadline) with regards to a late appeal. I am appealing the 3 year requirement to withdraw late, primarily as I spent the last four summer months as one of two primary care givers to my terminally ill father. Another aspect that effected my late appeal was the fact that I was waiting to see if my increased medication dose was in fact to have the desired effect. Dr. Phillip Choptianty my primary care doctor had instructed me that any mood altering medication typically has a lag period of a couple months to see full effects. As such I waited a couple months and can report that the doubling of my dose has had the desired effect putting me in a stable and improved mindset. In addition to this, my family was in the middle of a move as my father has substantial difficulties navigating these days, and I had wanted too see how he would adjust to the new environment before I felt comfortable moving forward with my appeal and hopeful return to studies. New environments are extremely challenging for Alzheimers patients and I had not wanted to unfairly burden my family during the transitional period, as we were all unsure the course the transitional period would take. We have found that the we are all comfortable with where my dad is now in terms of adjusting to his new environment and feel comfortable with his care plan as well. After talking it over with my family it became clear that returning to school was what we all felt was right for me. To conclude, I believe these circumstances where extenuating and beyond my control and directly impacted the timeline of my appeal process. Therefore I am requesting that the request to submit appeal is granted.
